New Year, 5 New Songs

A mixed bag. I’d gotten a new guitar (a beat-up Strat), and it had inspired me to write some music for – beat-up Strats. I”d held three tunes back at the last open mic – here they are now: “The Big-Time Blues,” “Economic Hits”, and “Beer, Cars, God, Sports, and War.” Not love ballads.

I also put up “Run, Run, Run Away From Love”. I’d been trying to write to music to that phrase for a while.

And “Light Up This Road” is a song to move to, when you’re worrying about the demonstration you’re in, or going to, or just thinking about going to.

The whole month has been pretty good, too, as far as playing my music is concerned. I realize it’s probably been one of the worst months in American History. But I got invited to be one of three headliners at a Philadelphia Area Songwriter’s Alliance (PASA) house concert on September 12. From a standing start, to this, in a year. So thanks Rob Lincoln, very much, for inviting me.

At the house concert, I got to play seven songs; and they went over just fine. Afterwards, Rob the leader congratulated me for holding my own against formidable competition.

It was good.
